The next meeting is on Tuesday, 27th May April, 8pm at Federation Estate, Greenwood Avenue.

Children of the Early Licensees of the Coach and Horses Hotel

We will devote the whole evening to Anita Barker’s study of this amazing subject. Anita is in the final stages of submitting a thesis, to complete her university studies. The historical society has been working with Anita in gathering material.

The difficulty is that children are not recorded in voter’s rolls or many other similar types of references. They are the forgotten people.

As well, the licensees only stayed in the area for a few years, before moving on, so little is written in our newspapers about them, particularly for an institution such as a hotel.

As an offshoot to this study , Anita “unearthed” a previously undiscovered area of children’s toys. The 54 boxes of material removed from the site, due to Eastlink, will be used to piece together the solutions to mysteries.

There has been no similar research done in Australia, or even worldwide, on this subject. Anita has gone to extraordinary efforts to delve into details.

This is a meeting not to be missed. It will not be repeated.
