The time has come to highlight the history of this interesting suburb. The majority of Ringwood’s orchards were in this area. The society will be holding a weekend of activities in November 2011. A committee has been formed to look at:-
A historical bus tour of the area (this was so popular with the East Ringwood weekend)
A Recollections Book (we need more relatives of pioneers or orchardists here)

Already Heathmont had its turn in 2005 and 2006 (48 Courts), then East Ringwood in 2008.

A friend of mine forwarded your web link to me and suggested I contact you. We were talking about North Ringwood and South Warrandyte areas and how some students living in South Warrandyte area attended North Ringwood PS, no. 4120.
Perhaps if I give you some information about me you may determine whether I can be of assistance to you or not. I moved to Ringwood in April 1949 with my parents who built a house in Paxton Street. My sister and I attended North Ringwood PS from 1949 (I was in Grade 3, my sister in Grade 1). I left there at the end of 1952 for secondary education. My mother was told I was going to go to Ringwood High School, but it was not built in time, so I did Form 1 (now year 7) at Blackburn Central School before Ringwood High School was completed. I did attend there from 1954 to end of year in1957.
My friend and I were comparing our schools (South Warrandyte and North Ringwood) and he suggested I may have some information that could help your North Ringwood project. If that is so, please contact me. Perhaps the significant thing about school was that when I started there the grades went Grade 8, but by the time I reached Grade 6, it was time to leave for secondary school. I guess those who stayed to Grade 8 may not have gone any further. Perhaps the Merit certificate was still in force in those days. I guess the changeover date was either 1950 or about 1950.
